TIED FOR THE BIG STORY IS:

Chitown talk show mogul Oprah Winfrey taped four shows back to back during her stay in Australia. According to the Associated Press, several thousands of fans (including the 300 guests who won the Australian trip on her show) attended the tapings that were held at the Sydney Opera House on Tuesday

On the first episode, actor was the guest. Her first guest was Australian actor Russell Crowe.

During the taping of the second episode, actor Hugh Jackman hurt his eye while rappelling from the top of the Opera House onto the stage. The Australian hit the brakes too late, and smacked his face on a lighting rig. Taping was briefly suspended while he was examined by paramedics and given a glass of red wine to sip, before getting the all-clear.

"That was so much fun until the end," he joked.

The family of the late "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin also made an emotional appearance on the program. Daughter Bindi walked on stage with a python named "Olivia" draped around her shoulders, assuring Winfrey "She's really sweet!" as the host tentatively stroked the reptile.

Hip hop artist Jay-Z, who also appeared on the show, stopped by a local boys' school after one of their teachers wrote to Winfrey and told her how much the students loved the rapper. The students, most of whom are from low-income families, were invited to watch the show's taping from inside the Opera House, and a live feed shown on the stage caught their reaction as Winfrey told them they would all be receiving free laptops. Performing was rock group Bon Jovi.

Speaking of giveaways, Oprah gave way a $250,000 check for a cancer-stricken Australian man and his family, who have been struggling to pay their bills. During Bon Jovi's performance of "Livin' On a Prayer," all 6,000 were informed they would be receiving a commemorative necklace made of native Australian pearls.

Winfrey launched her 25th and final season of "The Oprah Winfrey Show" in September by surprising her audience with her ultimate giveaway: an eight-day trip to Australia. The state and federal governments have spent around $5 million on the trip, a price that has drawn criticism from some Australians. But officials and Winfrey herself insist the shows will bring many millions more in tourism publicity.

The shows will air in January and are expected to be watched by millions of people in 145 countries.

In related Oprah newz, she was named the Top Philanthropist of 2010. The talk show queen has donated $40 million in charity through her Oprah Winfrey Foundation for education and women and children related programs.Following Oprah at number two is romance novelist Nora Roberts, and Meryl Streep is at number three. Oprah has been on the list three out of four years

President Barack Obama helped ring in the holidays Sunday night with musical stars Mariah Carey, Annie Lennox and Maxwell at the annual "Christmas in Washington" concert.

The festivities, hosted by comedian Ellen DeGeneres, took place at the National Building Museum and benefited the Children's National Medical Center. The entertainers sang Christmas songs and performed for the Obama family in a packed auditorium.

In remarks to the crowd, Obama talked about the story of Jesus' birth and the safe journeys of US troops.

Prior to the event, the Obama family offered presents from the White House to a group of young children dressed as elves, who placed them under a Christmas tree.

"Ho, ho, ho. Fantastic elves," Obama said as the group posed for pictures.

Also performing at the benefit concert were Miranda Cosgrove, who stars in the Nickelodeon TV series "iCarly," and Matthew Morrison, who portrays the optimistic high-school music teacher in the TV show "Glee." The concert will air Friday on TNT

Chitown native comedian./talk show host Sheri Shepherd got a bit hot and bothered smitten with His Riyal Badness when Prince mad ean unannounced walk in on “The View” last Thursday to promote his "Welcome 2 America" concert series at Madison Square Garden Dec 18.

Shepherd along with the other four hosts– Whoopi Goldberg, Sherri Shepherd, Elisabeth Joy Behar and Barbara Walters – were in the middle of a segment about Behar's wardrobe when the singer suddenly walked onto the set and took a seat. The crowd went nuts and Shepherd began to swoon on the spot. Meanwhile he handed each lady a pair of tickets to the show before engaging in an impromptu interview.

"These are strange hours for rock stars," the singer deadpanned. He later added that he hadn't even had breakfast yet.

Shepherd had a special request for the surprise guest: "Can you just say, 'Sherri, I love you?'" She was duly obliged and all but melted into the Purple One's arms as the audience went wild.

Reaching for his black leather gloves, she asks, "Can I hold your glove?" Behar immediately rips it from her hand and returns the item to Prince, slapping Shepherd lightly on her sticky fingers.

Then, Shepherd said the much ballyhooed confession,"You don't understand, Prince, I have wanted to make love to you for my whole life," she blurted out and cued Prince's exit, just as quickly as he had arrived, off the set.

Well, we must say if it wasn’t for Shepherd’s unabashed basking,. it would have been a boring interaction between Prince and the women , mainly a kissy kiss fest. Her behavior was a bit gushy, true, but she kept it real and repped every woman who fantasized about the pint sized rock star. It was definitely one of the best unscripted moments on TV in a while that wasn’t a reality show. LOL

Chitown native Internet sensation Antoine Dodson's viral video for the Bed Intruder Song was the most viewed video of the year on the social networking site You Tube according to the site. Two versions of the video (the original newscast with Dodosn and the Auto Tuned remix done by the Gregory Brothers of Auto Tune the News) totaled over 60 million hits. His video beat out hits from Justn Bieber, Eminem Rihanna and Lady Gaga.

Chitown based rap star and 2011 Grammy nominee Kanye West’s new album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy has topped Time Magazine’s album of the year list. The write-up in the magazine said Yeezy’s album was “the musical equivalent of a one-handed back handspring”.

“Kanye West can seem like an attention-hungry young child who constantly tugs on his mother's pant leg, saying, ‘Watch this! Watch this!’” it wrote. “But once Kanye got our attention, instead of a simple somersault, he delivered the musical equivalent of a one-handed back handspring.

"My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy layers complex computerised instrumentation over Yeezy's effortless flow, moving from the heavy hip-hop of Power and Monster all the way to the poppyMichael Jackson tribute, All Of The Lights. Beyoncé, Jay-Z and others guest on several tracks. They don't drop by just to deliver a verse or chorus; they are as integral to the tracks as Kanye himself.” Albums by Arcade Fire, LCD Soundsystem, Drake and Big Boi also made the annual list.

And in more unrelated Ye newz, producer Araab MuziAk (RIGHT)iis crying foil with Kanye claiming that 'Ye "jacked" his style during his recent MTV Video Music Awards performance.

In an interview on Thisis50.com, the 20-year-old Rhode Island beatmaker called out Kanye for performing with his Akai MPC sampler during the VMAs. According to Araab, "everybody knows" that playing the MPC live is his invention. "That n---- went and jacked my whole s---," Araab explained. "He started doing the s--- I do ... I'm disgusted. That n---- went on the VMAs doin' that. There was no need for him to do that ... he seen what I did, and felt like, you know ..."

The self-proclaimed "MVP of the MPC" claims Kanye discovered his style of tapping the MPC pads to trigger sampled notes and drums live after sharing a studio with Araab recently. While Araab appeared quite upset about the situation, he admitted in the interview that when he saw the popular rapper/producer after the fact, he didn't say anything. "I seen 'em. I didn't say nuthin' because we were in the same building performing," he said.

Uh, is Muzik delusional? If anything Muzik copied Erykah Badu who’s been using the machine for years in her stage act. If he created the actual machine, then he doesn’t hold the patent to who uses it!

According to the Tront Sun, St. Joseph, Mo. Native rapper and 2011 Grammy nominee Eminem is set to knock film fans out with his next big screen role - the hip-hop star will play an up-and-coming boxer in movie Southpaw. Eminem will play a welterweight boxer who becomes a champ, only to be hit by a personal tragedy. The film will also be loosely based on the star’s own life and experiences. The Oscar and Grammy Award winner is hoping to set the box office alight again with his first big screen acting role since his acclaimed turn in the semi-autobiographical 8 Mile in 2002 and where he won the Academy Award for Best Original Song from a Movie for, “Lose Yourself” in 2003.

Actor Ed O’Neill (LEFT OF PIC) who stars in the Emmy Award winning comedy “Modern Family” went on the defensive with the press for apparently misquoting him about his comments about the acting ability of Doloth, Ill. native actress Jane Lynch (RIGHT OF PIC) .

Earlier this week, TV Guide Canada reported O'Neill as saying, "I love Jane, honestly I do. I'm dying to star in one of Christopher Guest's movies alongside her, but I don't think she should have gotten the Emmy for that part. [Sue Sylvester] is just a one-note character." O'Neill allegedly went on to say that his on-screen wife, Sofia Vergara, (PICTURED WITH ONEILL INLFT OF PIC) would have been a more suitable candidate for the award.

In a statement issued to
Entertainment Weekly following the statement, O'Neill disputed the quotes attributed to him, saying, "Last week I spoke to a group of journalists and one quoted me supposedly saying of Jane Lynch, 'I don't think she should have gotten the Emmy for that part.' I never said those words and transcripts of the press conference attest to that fact."

"Of course I root for my dear friends Sofia Vergara and Julie Bowen (and all of my colleagues on our show) at Emmy time, but I absolutely never said, nor do I believe that Jane - whom I think is an enormous talent - was undeserving of the award. I reached out to her yesterday to ensure she knew I'd been misquoted but I wanted to clear this up publicly as well."

Lynch sources say that the actress has shrugged them off. In an email to
E! Online, Lynch's rep wrote, "Thanks for being repulsed, but let it go, that's what we're doing."

Meanwhile,
TV Guide Canada has issued an apology. "Earlier this week, TV Guide Canada published a story misquoting Ed O'Neill's recent comments about Jane Lynch's Emmy win. Our writer did not mean to misrepresent Mr. O'Neill or anyone else involved in the story. He and TV Guide Canada sincerely apologize for this error."

"Mr. O'Neill's real quote is as follows: 'I'm one of Jane Lynch's biggest fans. I love Jane Lynch. She is a genius. But at the same time I said 'Sofia could win' because ... and I've only seen Glee a couple of ... I've only seen Glee once. But I thought Jane's role is rather one-dimensional. It's kind of strident. It's always kind of the same. I've seen her be much better. So I thought 'Sofia's funnier,' and I think she is in these two comparative roles. Anyway, Jane won. But I was hoping that Sofia would.'"

In the media biz, people will believe what is read or is seen as the truth. Regardless of how much ONeill disputed the allegation and apologies done by TV Guide, his alleged errored comment will forever be enshrined in the TV pantheon. But isn’t it intesreting that in both comments, O’Neill says that Lynch;s role is one dimensional? LOL

From reports, Kelley's been spending up to three hours a day answering fan e-mails from around the world and fielding calls from radio station DJ's and record producers.

The song was inspired by a question Kelley's nephew asked while they were standing in line at a mall to see Santa. She mentioned it to her father , a St. Louis business owner with a background as a pianist, and he wrote a song around the idea.

They recorded it in 2009 and made a demo video with the help of Kelley's cousins, but the effort was amateurish and didn't get that much attention. Kelley knew music producer Chris Loesch, co-owner of Shock City and he re-produced it. They then got a professional cinematographer who was a cameraman on the production of "Up in the Air," to make the video.

We saw it and it s not half bad, We can see it being a big country or gospel hit

According to stltoday.com, Former state Senate candidate and WHHL radio talk show co-host Rodney Hubbard and his treasurer withdrew thousands of dollars in campaign donations, often at ATMs, without documenting how the money was spent, the Missouri Ethics Commission said Tuesday.

The commission fined Hubbard, a Democrat, and his treasurer Joy Camp, both of St. Louis, more than $350,000 for their roles in violating multiple campaign finance laws related to Hubbard's failed 2008 race for Senate. If Hubbard and Camp pay 10 percent of the total amount of fines, or about $35,000, and don't violate campaign finance laws for two years, the rest of the fines will be wiped out.

The Ethics Commission doesn't keep historical records on fines, but a commission official said the fine was the agency's largest in recent memory.

The commission concluded Hubbard violated campaign finance law by not properly reporting $129,000 in campaign spending and $86,000 in contributions.

It looks like a sub TV anchor has gotten a permanent gig that the regular once held. KMOV anchor and STL native Claire Kellett, who's been filling in for Virgina Kerr on "News 4 Awake," will replace Kerr as co-anchor with John Knicely.

But the story has a silver lining. When Kerr returns from maternity leave in January, she'll be an added co-host "Great Day St. Louis" with Carole Daniel, Matt Chambers and Kent Ehrhardt.

On Kerr coming to Great Day, a director at KMOV said. "Virginia is a natural for 'Great Day St. Louis,' and she is definitely going to be a great addition to the show. We look forward to Virginia sharing her perspective on a variety of lifestyle topics, especially her unique perspective as a brand new mom."

As for Kellett, a director said: "Over the past few months, Claire has really proven that she is a unique person, and a perfect fit for the job. She is an excellent communicator who happens to also be a genuinely nice person, and she knows and appreciates all of the things that make St. Louis such a great place."

Hmm, sounded like Kerr got replaced because Kellett had better chemistry on “News 4 Wake” the way it actually sounds and had to stick Kerr in a show instead of firing her (and a lessen the chances of a lawsuit-- no doubt).

According to stltoday columnist Deb Peterson a major shakeup occurred at Ladue News and its staffers. Dorothy Weiner and Lauren Rechan, the former editor and publisher respectively of Ladue News, are starting a rival publication, "Town & Style," to be launched Feb. 9. Weiner, who was editor in chief of Ladue News for 20 years, said she left the publication Dec. 3 in order to pursue the opportunity to publish "another community newspaper, a really local one."

Rechan, daughter of the founder of Ladue News,Charlene Bry, and publisher of the society magazine for about 15 years, resigned last month.

Weiner, who will be editor and associate publisher of Town & Style, said they have hired several editorial members of the Ladue News staff, including creative director Julie Streiler, senior writer Tony DiMartino and photographers Margaret Ramboand Charles Burns.

They plan to distribute 37,500 copies of their first publication, Weiner noted. She said they will publish 30 issues the first year and then move to a weekly schedule.

Hmm, sound like there is unrest at Ladue news that appear more than it not carting to more of a sphere of St. Louis. No one is going to just quit and leave a cushiony job as a writing for a swanky magazine and especially being a writer). It seems as though something else stemmed this large anarchy.

STL INSIDER BITZ

There seems to be some brewing scandal going on at the newly formed STL based Internet radio station Virtual Entertainment Networking Radio Station. One of its employees, talk show personality Ahsley Holloman (MIDDLE PIC) blasted the station and its owner Desiree Runnels-Friedrich recently on her Facebook page. She said:

“It’s sad that all the hard work and money invested by the employees of VERN to help all the shows achieve their DREAM and become successful is all for not because of GREED, LIES and IRRESPONSIBLITY DONE BY ONE OF THE OWNERS!!! BEWARE OF WHO YOUR GIVING YOUR PAYMENT TO BC (because) ITS NOT GOING WHERE YOU THINK IT IS...Dont worry though everything will soon come to light..

Then, Holloman wrote about how she and her boyfriend fellow radio talk show personality Patrick Gallagher (MIDDLE PIC ITH HOLLOMAN) who is a board member invested their expected newborn’s expenses in blind faith into the network

She wrote: “Ive played nice but the more I think about what you owe my family the more I become upset.... You have spent my childs money and lied about it. MY MAN SAVED YOUR COMPANY. Pay Patrick back the thousands you owe. Thanks

Both Holloman and Gallagher were employyes at Riverfront Radio then moved to Virtual to start up the company.

And, here’s the bell ringer. She wrote that the network is getting sued supposedly by those who invested monies in the company:

She continued: “Virtual Entertainment radio network is being sued by multiple parties! SHOWS: get out now before you lose your credibility! The netwok is being ran by a theif (DRF)! I am sorry...we found out to late!

NOTE: Initials DNF stands for its owner Desiree Runnels-Friedrich

Many who commented felt that Holloman’s allegations were libelous and slanderous.

Gallagher wrote on his Facebook page: Several shows are already cancelling! Thank God! I will soon be starting up a new company that will do business the right way!Its not slander if it can all be proven in court which is exactly what will happen. We have Iron Clad Proof of the actions going on with her. It will all soon come to light!

Greedy people should not run companies!!! It's unfortunate that most are!!!

Runnels (PICTURED RIGHT) also chimed in on her Facebook Page on the allegations and she posted the defintiaon of ‘Defamation’/

She wrote: "Defamation—also called calumny, vilification, slander (for transitory
statements), and libel (for written, broadcast, or otherwise published
words)—is the communication of a statement that makes a claim, expressly
stated or implied to be factual, that may give an individual, business,
product, group, government, or nation a negative image..."

She has had many supporters and her response to them was:

.

"Thanks for helping me keep my chin up!!!"

Well we guess we will see more to this story when the new year hits, but we must agree that its quite bold to blast the allegations on Facebook. And in journalism there’s always two sides (now lets say many sides) to every story!

WORDZ TO THE WHYZ?????

Why was Sheri Shepherd scaring Prince acting like a groupie when came on The Veiw? Why did Yo Gotti and his crew get into a gun altercation with a ruval rapper and his crew at a Memphis nightclub parking lot? Why did 50 Cent get on Twitter clowinin on Ja Rule going to prison sayin he will warn inmates inside to not mess with him? Why are they coming out with a Justin Bieber singing doll? Why is the Discovery Channel airing a Michael Jackson autopsy documentary? Why did it seem as though Paul MccArtney was hosting Saturday Night Lve last Saturday than the actual host Paul Rudd? Why did rapper Wocka Flocka join a fraternity, The Alphas? Why do people put their personal business on Facebook? Why are folk saying Jay Z’s new book “Decoded” is printed on paper with hidden Illuminati symbols? Why is there a guy supposedly outing rapper Souljah Boy as his lover and they haven’t even met yet just emailed each other and talked on the phone? Why is there a recall for Rolaids? Why is the National Inqurier comparing Aretha Franklin;s supposed pancreatic cancer to the late actor Patrick Swayze? Why is Debbie Morgan temporarily leaving All My Children? And why do big rig trucks drivers think they are immune to icy laced highways when they drive too fast?
