THE BIG A&E STORY THIS WEEK IS:
Former Illinois governor/reality show star Rod Blagojevich' is expected to appear in court at his second corruption trial today, Thursday as jury selection resumes from, Wednesday with a pool 100 who are filling out a38 page questionnaires to be selected.. Blago will returns with a scaled-down defense team that no longer includes charismatic lead lawyer Sam Adam Jr. For prosecutors, it could be seeking testimony from
Speaking at his
"To have to sit through that and hear all that again ... it's brutal, brutal," he said with the family dog, Skittles, resting on his lap. Listening to former aides, confidants and once-close friends testify against him was particularly painful, he added. All of them are expected to take the stand again in the weeks ahead.
But Blagojevich, who says he ruled out accepting a plea bargain, said he was also eager for another chance to clear his name. He knows he has a lot to lose.
He could get up to five years in prison for lying to the FBI, the sole count on which he was convicted last year. He faces 20 more counts in the retrial, including bribery and fraud. And the stakes are as high as ever: A conviction on just one offense could mean a decade or more behind bars.
It is expected that a jury will be in place by this time next week. The same judge Judge James Zagel will hear the case.
So its Green Mile time for Blago--without the death part.

"West delivered a grandiose, theatrical performance destined to be remembered as one of the great hip-hop sets of all time," writes Jeff Miller in The Hollywood Reporter of West, who started just 15 minutes late, and landed on stage via a crane. "Every moment of the carefully-choreographed set was larger than life, beginning with West's entrance. He rose above the audience via an enormous crane that swung him over nearly the entirety of the main stage's gigantic swath of real estate while blasting through 'Dark Fantasy,'" Miller describes.
"The high-intensity start was followed by a run-through of nearly all of West's hits ("Stronger," "Gold Digger," "Through The Wire") divided into a cinematic, three-part arc that was mostly special-guest free and hit surprising emotional resonance mid-set, when West declared his Coachella performance the most important to him since his mother's unexpected death in 2007.
The heft of that statement carried through the performance's end, when West nearly teared up during the poignant "Hey, Mama," adds Miller.
CBS News says West "blew the doors off" Coachella by "performing his biggest hits to an appreciative crowd."
MTV News says the rapper "slayed" Coachella.
"In what is sure to go down as one of the most memorable performances in Coachella history, Kanye West only disappointed anyone who was expecting the controversial MC to phone in his festival-ending set Sunday night," wrote the site's Mary J. DiMeglio.
The Los Angeles Times' Todd Martens writes, "As entertainment, West's set was captivating, a festival performance unlike any other, and one that often showcased the artist and the artist alone on a minimal stage."

In a hasty maneuver to escape, Jeremih donned four thick coats and jumped out his dorm window three floors below into a thicket of bushes.

Veteran St. Louis Cardinals reliever Ryan Franklin got booed by fans Wednesday after the first of two games, a day game (that was rescheduled from Tuesday’s cancellation die to tornadic weather) and evening game held back to back when he didn’t close at the day game and ended up losing the game 8 to 6 against the Washington Nationals
Franklin told B.J. Rains of FOX Sports Midwestthat he was thrown off by the boos he heard on Wednesday after allowing an eighth-inning 417-foot homer to Nationals outfielder Laynce Nix and a subsequent walk to catcher Ivan Rodriguez.
“I guess they have short memories too because I think I’ve been pretty good here,”
The quotes only get more heated as Rains’ column goes on:
“You don’t boo your own team. I don’t care who you are or what you say or just because you spent your money to come here to watch us play that somebody happens to make one bad pitch and give up a homer and you are going to start booing him? I’ve been here for five years and four years I’ve been pretty good.”
The Cards regained themselves and won the evening game 5-3.
Sports experts and analysts are saying that the fans shouldn’t blame

Steve Mizerany, the zany appliance dealer who roller-skated through his store and squealed pitches over the radio, died last Friday He was 87 .
Mr. Mizerany's trademark slogan was describing the store, called the New Deal, "at 4719 Gravois, next to the Bevo Mill." He'd vary the line during radio ad libs, often saying "the Bevo Mill is next to us." A McKinley High alum, he went to work with his brothers after high school at a family store, Mizerany Brothers Appliance at 3849 South Broadway.
In 1972, he left that store and co-founded the Mizerany-Farhatt New Deal Appliance Co. at the famous Gravois address.
But it was for the New Deal that he found his voice. He took to TV and radio with enthusiastic slapstick, delivered in his distinctive voice. He'd appear in plaids and stripes that were outlandish even for the 1970s.
Mr. Mizerany lived for the last six years in Bethesda Meadow nursing home in Ellisville. He had been a patient at St. Luke's for about a week before his death.
Services are pending through Kutis Funeral Home Affton.

Directed by Andrea Frye Jailed in a Texas prison, Alberta “Pearl ” Johnson has little hope for release and even less for reconnecting with her missing daughter. That is until Susannah Mullally, a song collector on a mission to record pieces of African-American culture, overhears Pearl singing while on a visit to the prison. Through her music, Pearl has the unexpected opportunity to earn her freedom and search for her daughter. This work harnesses race relations and the rich oral history of the African-American community to build a tale that is funny, touching, and compelling.
