Interesting..If I visit VFS in person when I'm in Chennai, How soon will I get the appointment. My visa expires in Feb'07 and I'm going to Chennai for 3 weeks in Nov. So If I don't get appt I can always try for the next trip..
As said they have seprate quota for 'Returning workers' . I have used it. I went to VFS on 23rd nov 2005 and got appt for 30th Nov 2005.

Poor Coverage in Media Regarding a Very Important Issue where governmental agencies (USCIS/DOS) took unprecedented/unlawful route and resulted in millions of dollars wasted and dreams shattered of hard working, lawfully present Highly Skilled Immigrants.
My Question is why is media acting like an Ostrich on this issue? Answers anyone??
FYI Some individuals and distinguished senators are on top of this already.

John Kelly: Well I don't see that it's totally been ignored. And as you mentioned, there IS a story in the New York Times today. I don't know why this particular wrinkle might not have been covered as much as some might like, but I imagine the crush of other news might be partly to blame.

On Oct 26th, Rep. Tom Davis is going to answer questions.

As per the above post the I-797 has to be current for EAD renewal. I am not sure how this can be possible if i chose to use my EAD and discard my H1 status. In that case, not only my h1 stamp will be in expired status, and also I will not have a CURRENT I-797.
In that case, should i just send my copy of expired visa stamp and expired I-797 approval copy for EAD renewal? This is for my EAD, not my spouse's ead renewal.

I recently got my confirmation number from HDFC after paying $100 application fees. When I tried to take a date after filling out all the forms online on the vfs website, the system does not show any appointment November 06 onwards for New Delhi, it says: No appointment available for this month. I have to go to India in Dec and for that I have to get my H-1 stamped as this is my first time out of the country after getting an H-1.

Once you get a receipt notice you could send the correct marriage certificate with a letter explaining the mistake. It will probably lead to a RFE and not a rejection.
Just noticed that my lawyer has attached marriage certificate of my co-worker in the dependendent's petition. I am waiting for the receipt.
What are the impacts of this mistake? To compound the issue, my wife is flying out next week for a month to India.

I went to usa on h4 one yr back.h1 is approved on nov2007.Before approval i faced one query because my employer assaign she is going to work on particular location,he mentioned city of USA also.So they raised query why only that place.My employer replyed that query and after few months i received I-797B form in the place of I-797A approval notice.That says i am not applied h1 from USA.In that time we mentioned, we are applied from USA.In that situation i have to go for stamping .But I have other option,we amended that h1 I-797B.We did premium process.With in one month i got h1 approval notice in nov2007.
I am the first employee to my employer.Is there any querys raised on this.I have one month paystub.My employer going to send tax returns of 1 yr,wages,project details,client letter.Do i need other than these documents from my employer.pls tell me.
Now i am in india.I have to go Embassy for stamping.Which location shall i go for stamping in India.

On a simplistic level, the original office that granted your H1 or H4 or the state where you have permanent/ residential address on your passport is your best shot unless there are valid issues like business travel etc.

3. Trying to do a "divide-and-conquer" within IV.
IV is for all legal EB based immigration - it is very clear in the mission statement what is its goal.
Also, even if IV was as myopic as you claim, future generations of EB immigrants wll benefit simply by virtue of the fact that people currently in line will not fight with them for GC.

Just call your local AAA office and they will tell you everything.. Mostly they take photo in main local office.
If you are plus member you get free 8 photos. I guess for regular member you will 6.
