You mentioned only you got welcome email not your dependents...I am confused...for me I received the approval email but no status change for my wife even on the telephone check , she opened a SR on Friday...
Were your dependents approved when you checked on telephone or how did you come to know that their cases got approved (by postal mail or phone?)....my lawyer also mentioned my name only ofcourse he received the same CRIS mail that I received....
I am not sure how to check...if online is not reliable...

I had an Infopass appointment. The IO checked the status of my two dependants and confirmed that their cases were also approved, although the online status still says their cases are pending.

Lucky you�you can make plans like these. Most folks visiting this site are stuck in retrogression. Most will be willing to do AOS or Consular Processing, even if it means going to US Consulate on the north pole, if only it were to be allowed....Best of luck, hope you have fun making this choice

ok- so , I am guessing the consensus is go with the earlier PD (+ EB3).

What is the relation between a 3 year H1B Approval granted on an approved I-140 and the underlying I-140 petition ? Specifically, what happens if an employee leaves the company, are the remaining years (out of 3 granted originally) still valid ? What happens if the original employer revokes/cancels the underlying peition on which the extension was originally granted ? Is the H1B petition based on a an approved I-140 linked to that I-140 in anyway once it (H1B petition) is approved ? My H1 extension expires on March 08, Have EAD, Work for the same employer who sponsered my GC.
Does my employer has to apply for my H1 extension ? Should I use EAD to work with my same employer (what paper work I have to do ?).
Hypothical question, If I use EAD to work, lets say there is a delay in getting my EAD renewed even though I apply 120 days in advance, should I stop working and start working only after I get my new EAD ??
Some may find these as irrelvant thoughts/questions, but we are in this limbo state and it is better to know.

I compared the 485 inventories from 12/11/09 and the one on 10/1/10, released by USCIS. The net difference (approved) for EB3I is approx 1320, cleared mostly for the 2001 PDs. Don't know what happened to rest of the visa numbers ( ~ 1500) out of the mandated ~2800 for EB3I.
Rest should have been consumed-by CP and 245(i)(follow to join):D

Well, thanks all for your responses, but I am as cfused as I was before I posted the question. Do any of you have any sources to back your claims. I know for sure that worldwide income has to be reported, so thanks for that clarification desi3933. But do you have a source that mentions that a person on H4 can for sure work outside. Many thanksa again guys. All your help is appreciated.

It is against immigration rules to work in any form or manner on an H-4 visa. The immigration rules clearly state that H4 status holders can only do voluntary work.

First of all you are not supposed to involve in any of the PERM process. Its plain illegal. It seems you are taking the wrong route for your porting.
I know but when there is a chance, we must make sure. Who told u that always works.

I would not worry about it at this point, this seems to be an internal matter, cases are often transferred to other service centers for speedy processing, sometimes it could be an error also, whatever this might be, this is not something you have control over. If the I-140 becomes overdue you should have your employer call or write to the service center.

I had 2 RFE's related to photo's only. One for AP(1st time). The next one for EAD.
You got to be extra cautious with digital picture's. First time for EAD, digital got accepted and RFE for AP.
I took digital pictures once in CVS and once in another store.
Nowadays I go to a protraits shop and get a polaroid.
Digital are fine, but there are some quality requirements. Check these sites for more details

Thank you for your reply. The scenario would be...if my husband loses his H1B due to a layoff, etc, then I would lose my H4 status. In that case, will I still be able to enter the US on a B1/B2 as it was initially valid till 2013.

hi boney. excellent advice so far. i'll just add that you should also take into account how one camera "feels" in your hands vs. another. you might use that as a tie-breaker or a major decision point in your purchase. but luckily for us most of the manufacturers have a different feel, including grip sizes, curves, location and operation of the controls, etc.

I have Canada PR since October 2006. In October this year I will complete 3 years since landing in Canada. The rule to maintain PR is that one should live in Canada for at least 2 years in a 5 year period. Since I have not lived in Canada more that a couple of weeks since landing, will I be allowed to move to Canada after completing 3 years outside Canada or will I be sent back from the border? Has anyone moved to Canada after living outside for more than 3 years since landing? Please advise.

Sometime back when I inquired the same, I was told that canada is lenient about this rule and there were instances when people were allowed to come even after staying more than 3 years outside canada but then recently somebody told me that they are becoming more strict now.

their email notif system doesnt work.. they may not send email on even hard lud.. I got email for my EAD approval a month after getting the card in hand! ..
