Windows is making a version of Windows that works on ARM and the regular processors, so ALL the software works for it. They wont be separate versions.
So do you mean microsoft is implementing universal binaries? as in, intel windows apps will run on the ARM version? This would be a very new thing for windows if that's what you mean. If microsoft was any good at copying, they would have learned that lesson from Apple since the 68k/PowerPC transition. It works every time when going from one architecture to another, or from one word size to another.

Where is the logical place for a dock? At the bottom (no brainer--do you want to turn your device sideways or upside down?). Grid is the most efficient layout. How else are you going to lay them out?
Delete is a little similar, but it is one of the easiest ways to delete something. You can't exactly right click and going to the menu to delete apps seems innefficient.
Palm and Microsoft put their icons in a grid pattern that Apple COPIED with iOS. I don't see them (or their patent holders in the case of Palm) suing. Apple is acting like a baby because they can see what it coming (more open ecosystems, less expensive options) and they know it will mean a loss of power and money.
Perhaps you need to actually look at an iPhone 3GS and a Galaxy Tab sometime.

I'm waiting after the new year with the release of OS X 10.5 and then possibly getting a MBP. When is the Pairs show? I keep reading September but what are the exact dates? Thanks.

Almost bought the kit, but when I went to the Apple store and actually saw it in person I couldn't justify paying $120+tax for a piece of plastic. Yeah, yeah yeah, it has bluetooth, charges the phone, and has a gps chip. Its ridiculous to have to pay $100 for an app and $120 for a piece of plastic.

What the heck is a "golden master candidate"? Google search only hits on this story and a story about iOS 4.0. As far as I know, Apple doesn't use the term. Someone made it up and ran with it.
It makes no sense. There are Release Candidates, and there are Golden Masters.
I was thinking the same thing; it doesn't make much sense to have a candidate for a supposedly Golden Master build. There shouldn't be more than one!
On another note, I am really loving Lion because everything seems more intuitive to use. I love the small things, like moving forward and backward in Safari. I'm also loving the full screen feature.

Just as long as they don't make it the preferred method for others to distribute software or it to become the only way. They can distribute their software how they like

I dont understand the point of this. Is storage really an issue on peoples computers? I understand the mobile app, but why not just store the files locally?
I believe that storage will be half the equation for the future MobileMe. I believe the other half will be some sort of wireless synching to the cloud - if you so choose - and not to your computer as we've done for too many years now.

There's no point to this update, just like there was no point to the 3GS update. In this case, it's arguably worse because -- given the rollout of 4G/LTE currently ongoing and the publicity surounding the poor antenna of the iP4 -- it's fairly safe to assume that the next iPhone will address at least 2 of the above issues.

Just thinking about "compelling applications", and pulling a couple of rumors together...
What happened to the rumour that Apple was making a groupware application? What would happen if you implemented a group scheduling and interaction application on a iPad /phone device. Something that allows for shared calendaring & room bookings, as well as a light development environment for a customised family and/or business mobile-intranet?

Again, as a company which tightly controls the user experience of their devices and doesn't like news such as security flaws, I'm sure there are many things which bother them about jailbreaking, but again there is probably one primary cause: software piracy. Jailbreaking enables software piracy and there's not a whole lot that even the jailbreaking community can do about that.
And then there's a few more nails in the coffin: a jailbreak must take advantage of a security flaw in Apple devices or software in order to be performed, and Apple must patch these flaws in order to maintain their device security. Even if Apple didn't care about jailbreaking so much they should continue patching the flaws, thus the cat and mouse game. So why doesn't Apple just allow it by default? See the earlier points, especially piracy. Apple is going to oppose jailbreaking to the end and they have legitimate reasons to do so. I like to jailbreak my devices from time to time, but I see where they're coming from.

Luckily the Apple today is cash rich compared to the Apple 8 or so years ago. We certainly should be expecting more from Apple.

Mobileme is certainly worth more than free. Apple doesn't scrape your emails and other data to target adds at you a la Google.
I could see Apple making some features of Mobileme free. I don't think they're just going kill a revenue stream but they could offer a basic free Mobileme account which gives you.

I don't see that happening. Apple tends to avoid complicated product lines. That is one too many options in my opinion.
Considering we have three tier (or more) systems with other Apple lines I don't see it as a total impossibility.
Mac Mini > iMac > Mac Pro
MacBook > MacBook Air > MacBook Pro
iPod Shuffle > Nano > Classic > Touch etc.
We'll have to wait and see how it all turns out!:)
