Ahem. Anyone who says that Yale is "square" and Harvard is not has obviously never experienced the two colleges. And yes, I can say this because I am a Yale student who chose Yale over Harvard. Additionally, I really don't know what a "more comprehensive understanding of aesthetics" is, let alone what it has to do with mac usage. And, for the record, fully 35% of people here at Yale use Macs, and the large majority of freshmen I know who bought a new laptop got an MB or an MB pro. Also, I would argue that trying to paint Yale and Princeton with the same brush is also incorrect, and it is even more incorrect to paint Harvard and Columbia with the same brush. It is pointless to generalize ANY two colleges together, especially schools with such varying social, educational, and cultural philosophies.
EDIT: Oh, but don't take my word for any of this. I switched to Mac from Linux, so I guess I'm not a real Mac user.

Am I alone in thinking this would be the coolest and most useful application of wireless?
I mentioned this exact same thing a few days ago. Bandwith should not be an issue for streaming one audio track at a time. Imagine the iPod HIFI with that: carry your iPod in your pocket and it streams to the nearest iPod HIFI. If you have more HIFIs, you can walk around in the house and your music follows you eveywhere you have an iPod HIFI. You could as well use headphones, but streaming music and having sterile-making emitters in your pockets is so much cooler, isn't it? ;)

Cool :), I'm happy that it came out, Its funny that evry body knew it was comeing out before it was officially announced, i whouldent change my current xbox 360 for it just for hdmi and a bigger HDD. I was a little bit angry that they dident enclude the wireless bridge built in. also they could have added a new User interface the current one it horrible :(

Every other teacher in the school is fine with it, it's just that one guy. By taking it off me, I couldn't get my coursework finished. Pretty annoying. I see everyones point that it's his network, but it's a pretty big assumption to assume that a student is 'hacking the network' because he's on a laptop.

Mapping the entire world is complicated and best done by Google because they can effectively monetize it. For an effective traffic app, you need high volume. Android's cheap crap does this better because it has more marketshare. Apple needs to quit being bitches and put the Google navigation app on iPhone and both phones for a superior traffic app.
The last thing I want is the need to constantly connect to the internet and download the maps every time when I want to get some navigation. The Google maps solution is not ideal if they still don't allow caching maps or local navigation database.

All i have to say is iLife 07 has to be pretty good if were still waiting for it.

The lack of MACS at MACworld is a perfect example. All of us dedicated mac (that is mac computer) users excitedly jabbering for months about new MBPs and minis ACDs and octo-core pros and iLife and iRocket and iWorks etc. and what do we get? Zilch. Nada, except a couple (admittedly cool) devices that don't do a thing for the computing experience. I use macs cuz they work better, and there are things to like about Apple as a company...but sometimes they make me feel like a lonely, caged, under-informed and taken-for-granted subject in a giant marketing experiment.

There's no doubt that Vista will be first - on track for November release....
Unfortunately, the consumer release has to wait until after the Saturnalia purchasing orgy - so some will ignore the millions of copies running at businesses and claim that Vista ships sometime in January.
If you think major businesses are going to leap out and upgrade to Vista in November you are sadly mistaken. Some small businesses, maybe, if they have the time to mess around with the upgrades.
I also heard that the site licensing can't be done with Vista without having a Longhorn Server set up ...dunno if that is true, but it would be yet another reason businesses aren't going to adopt.
